What do you remember of him?
Doreen: Of who?
Mr Plimsolls
Doreen: It was a name that the children all
called him, because he only wore plimsolls, they were white plimsolls. He wore
a long coat in the winter, carried a little canvas bag, cap on his head and he
shuffled down the road. He had about a size 6 foot, but he was wearing size 10
plimsolls so they flapped about, and he went every day down to the shop and
then went back to his house.
Did you ever notice anything odd or weird about him?
Doreen: He always had his head down, he used to mumble to himself
Did he scare you at all?
Did you ever notice anything odd or weird about him?

Did he scare you at all?
Doreen: Well he didn’t scare me, I thought that
he was odd but he did scare all the children
Was there anything he did that felt "off" to you?
Was there anything he did that felt "off" to you?
Doreen: No, he was just an old man, but he did
look scary.
Can you describe his house to me?
Doreen: He lived in a little bungalow at the top of the road, and the house was so overgrown with bushes you couldn’t see the windows and could only just make out the door. It was always dark inside, never any lights, and he lived like a hermit there.
Anything about his behaviour?
Doreen: He just shuffled, he was just an old man that shuffled, I would think he was very lonely, I wouldn’t think that he spoke to many people, which is why he was mumbling to himself
Lovely job, Doreen! Love that little detail about the flapping of his plimsolls! Who's recollections are next?
